What’s better, to be the star of the game or the star of the show? What if it’s a game and a show? That’s what fans might debate when watching their favorite TV game show or ball player. It’s what we see with the MLB All-Star Game and Judge Judy on deck. Judge & Judy bring more face time to their game time.

Judy just launched a new TV game show. According to the Queens Courier she said “So thrilled to embark on a new adventure with such fabulous partners; iWitness is a compelling game for those from 5 through 95.” Judge & Judy show-off their power to WOW as something coming from their sweet spot.

The premise of the show is based on the magic of memory and observation from watching a video clip. The goal is to match as best as possible what really stands-out in the video moment. The idea probably comes from Judy’s years of experience in hearing people give eye witness accounts from an event.

Meantime, there’s no confusing what happened at the MLB Homerun Derby with Judge taking the prize. His performance was so telling and compelling that the Baseball Commissioner said he could become the face of the game. As any sports writer might say, the dude is young, gifted and stacked (and that’s a fact).

Yea, everything is everything and when asked about the game or show folks were happy. But it seems the WOW factor is a kind of addictive quality their presence/essence has to offer. She’s been on the TV show for 20+ years and maybe he’s ready to take a long walk or let homeruns fly like cranes in the sky.

Which is better, be star of the game? Or star of show the same? Whether in a game or show. It’s about hustle and flow. What fans might debate at the bar. Or watching ballers from afar. As seen at MLB All-Star fair. With homeruns flying in the air. More face time to the scene. More game time for the green.

Judge Judy launching game show. Aaron Judge about to rake in the dough. Judy so thrilled to take. New adventure for winner’s sake. With such fabulous biz sponsors. And TV industry watchers. Seen as compelling game at best. For those 9 to 95 at the fest. Power to stir the pot. And WOW the sweet spot.

Premise of the show is this. A way for memory hit or miss. From observation of video clip. To giving  a scoop or incident tip. Goal is to match what you see. To what stands-out not so much A to Z. An idea from evidence gathering trenches. As seen by Judy from the courtroom benches.

No confusing the homerun watch. Judge hit them beyond the catch. Taking top prize among the sluggers. Female fans among his list of huggers. A performance in range so telling. Soon to be a pitchman for things he’s selling. MLB Commish says he’s new face. Even before this year’s pennant race.

Yea, everything is everything. Don’t wait to see if fat lady sings. When asked about the game or show. Folks shared their happiness, you know. But seems WOW factor in their presence. Is addictive quality of their essence. For 20+ years she on TV screen. He ready for long walk or homerun’s gangsta lean.

It was the first weekend in the official start of summer and things got hot! There were so many events from coast to coast that had stars in the building. There were Awards shows and other spots to choose from that were happening. Even Ice Cube and DJ Khaled achieved new dreams with their latest projects.

In launching this new 3-on-3 professional basketball league, Cube told USA Today’s For The Win “When I saw Kobe score 60 points in his last game, I knew that guy can still play basketball…and there’s no where I can ever see him play again.” Cube saw an opportunity to fill a void, serve a niche & roll the dice.

After giving it more thought he went with the 3-on-3 idea which is how most basketball pick-up games are played. Even though he was starting from scratch with the idea, he decided to recruit former NBA players who’re now retired. The concept has some buzz with strong attendance after the first weekend of games.

While that was happening on the East Coast, Khaled was mixing it up on the West Coast with a new album release. His social media feed was blazing with clicks and pics from some of his promotional pit stops. With Cube and Khaled you see their vision catch fire as they approach their dreams like pros.

What really stands out for both of them is how they make the situation special. Khaled gives nods and props to his production team and music collaborators with his Another One lingo. Cube lets players wear their street-side nicknames on their jerseys. It’s the way they make things funky, fun and catch feels.

First summer weekend start. Weather pretty much played its part. Things in show biz got hot. With so many events to hit the spot. Awards shows and so much more. Some things began as early as four. Lots of stars in the building to see. How Ice Cube and DJ Khaled let dreams come to be.

Launching new 3-on-3 pro hoops. Giving USA Today his dream scoops. Saw Kobe retire after scoring 60 in last game. Knew he could still do more with his fame. Why not see him play again. If he’s still can shoot jumpers when. A way to serve a niche, fill a void. Roll the dice for the retired and unemployed.

After thinking things through a bit. Cube thought his idea could be a hit. Most pick-up games happen the 3-on-3 way. That’s how most kids learn to play. Starting from scratch to move it along. Cube adding his own rhymes in a Hip Hop song. Concept has buzz from fan support. To see who still got game on the court.

That was sort of the East Coast swing. While Khaled on West Coast doing his thing. Mixing it up for his album release. Grateful for the fan love piece by piece. Social media feed blazing with clicks. Streaming music previews and promo pics. Many see their vision catch fire. Living their dreams about to go higher.

Something to make them standout then. The situation makes things feel like a ten. Khaled gives nods to his production team. Adding props for his collab-ready dream. As Another One helps him see more green. And stay front and center on the scene. Nicknames on jerseys to make it funky, fun and feel teen.

The Met Gala is still bringing the stars out in full effect. There went a pregnant Serena Williams and a radiant Rihanna on the Red Carpet. It seems Diddy got tired of standing while his girl posed for pictures. These days he and Ne-Yo are putting their money where their heart is while still making things hot.

Recently Ne-Yo decided to invest in a school for the next crop of tech stars. He told Tech Crunch “This is not, ‘oh, let me attach my name to something.’ This is something that I’m genuinely passionate about.” They’re investing time and money in the next chance for others to grind by making passion do what it do!

They’re still doing their thing working with new artists and emerging talent. That’s how Diddy made a name for himself in the record business. But they want to prepare students not just for the passion worlds of ballers and beats. So they’re providing the training to help launch whiz kids for the tech-savvy world.

Social media went crazy when Diddy decided to sit on the stairs at the Met Gala entrance. Not long ago he was the one going crazy about Kendrick Lamar’s new album. But after Diddy opened a school in Harlem last year, he’s using his talents to connect students with the passion worlds of brains and biz too.

Ne-Yo’s looking forward to his next music project soon. Diddy is looking ahead to the unfolding of his latest legacy project. The NY Media world is trying to keep a steady hand these days. With different personalities coming and going, the industry shot callers are busy shifting things. There’s word that Megyn Kelly will soon be back on air. While Steve Harvey and Kenan Thompson are too hot to trot, tame or slow down anytime soon.

Harvey’s busy moving and shaking while Thompson is holding it down at SNL. In a HuffPost interview he said “I thought that SNL was just going to be that bridge into being an adult actor. They’ve not only been a bridge. They’ve been a [beep] highway for me.” A little bend and big break have helped their careers rise.

They know ‘top-dog’ ratings can be good for business. Harvey recently announced the return of Showtime at the Apollo as a weekly show coming soon. He plans to re-launch his daytime Talk Show from LA this fall. Thompson is one of the longest-running SNL performers, all of this from turning talent into comedy.

But what seems to add to their longevity is a knack for turning talent into options. Thompson plays different sketch-comedy stage roles on SNL. Harvey’s gone from the stand-up comedy stage and now hosts different roles on TV. It’s like that old story of putting talent to work so that it multiplies and flies.

One of the signature skits by Thompson is playing Harvey on Family Feud. It’s art imitating life in a fun and natural way. That’s how they use their talent to pull on the purse-strings in the marketplace. Their comedy is more than pulling a puppet on a string. It’s in how their skills brings praises many people sing.

There are some events that seem to bring out celebs from everywhere. These days it’s probably Coachella and the NBA playoffs. At Coachella, Rihanna and Cam Newton showed-up making fashion statements. But it’s Jordan Peele and F Gary Gray who have folks coming out in droves at the box office.

Gray is Director of the Fate of the Furious, the eighth release in the franchise. In his own words as an emerging Hollywood player he once said “I’d like to direct epic feature films that I won’t have to apologize for years down the line.” He knows secrets for delivering innovation, spotting trends and reaching people.

Peele who recently had breakout success with the movie Get Out might say one secret is having an eye for seeing what others might not readily see. That goes beyond eyesight to include foresight. They’ve honed this by bridging their current reality. It’s taken them to the point of having their vision come to life.

Some of this quality was on display this week from Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg who’s excited about the next tech frontier of what’s being called ‘augmented reality.’ These guys show us how trends + innovation means seeing what people want before they need it or need before they want and gotta have it.

When it comes to their appeal, a key ingredient has been how their work reaches a diverse audience. It’s keeping things simple, plain and with a common touch. It’s not trying to hypnotize or fool the world. But getting people to see themselves in moments of joy, pain and sunshine with no more rain in their clouds.

Before the need or have it to flaunt. What they need before it’s a hit. Or they get the feeling of ‘gotta have it.’

When it comes to their appeal. They’ve been able to land the deal. Working to reach diverse audience streams. And tapping into real life dreams. By keeping things simple and plain. A common touch all the sane. Not to hypnotize or fool others along the way. But for peeps to see themselves rising another day.

It’s been a crazy past few days in sports. Things began with news that Tony Romo would retire from football. He’s played with the Cowboys for over a decade and will quickly move to the broadcast booth. Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook and Sergio Garcia score big points and reach high marks in a tight game.

Talking with the NY Times Magazine, Thunder’s coach Mo Cheeks said of Westbrook “He’s a driven man, he’s a very disciplined person, never late, always on time. I don’t know many with that explosiveness.” Cheeks might know 3 goals that Westbrook set to light a fuse under his dreams and shine like a star.

It’s a case of shooting for those first-time goals. It’s the first time that an NBA player has averaged a triple-double since Oscar Robinson. For Garcia, not only was it his first time winning the Masters but also winning one of golf’s major events. This time he dug-in to win in an exciting 18th-hole playoff.

When Robinson set the record in the 1961-1962 season it was the last time a player had a triple-double season average. The last time someone from Spain won the Masters was in 1999. So they may have had a goal where the ‘last time’ a thing’s been done got them to a point this season of really feeling it boy.

With Westbrook and Garcia playing the games they love, it’s not hard to find times of ups and downs. Some thought Westbrook would slump after Durant left for the Warriors. But with the days as a pro moving along, having the sense of a ‘last chance’ to do something can get folks going to be at their best.

When Oscar set record back in the day. Didn’t know who would come this way. Last time of triple-double average season. Gave Westbrook a hunch and a reason. Masters win last time by Spain. Was 1999 to make it plain. This last-time thing got them to a point. Where they were feeling it boy in the joint.

With both playing the games they love. Something came over them like a dove. Not hard to find those ups and downs. Thinking Westbrook would slump was word around towns. The new ‘Ride Through New York’ at Universal is getting major reviews. Fallon told the NY Press that “It’s an idea I had seven years ago. I pitched it to the Universal Theme Park folks and they politely passed.” Now the ride is here, proving how a dollar, a dream and a destiny need good timing to come together.

After getting a ‘no’ from park execs on his proposal he went on doing other things. As the Tonight Show became his main thing, Fallon says he got a call back saying they were ready to rethink the idea. Three years have passed since and now Fallon has a show and his own ride as a ‘life-imitates-art attraction.’

While that happened in one part of Orlando, Cena had another kind of proposal for his long-time girlfriend after winning their Wrestlemania match. Thankfully he got a ‘yes’ on his first try. It felt like destiny as his mother was there to see him perform and propose. His good friend Fallon was also in the audience.

They know in pursuing a personal relationship or a professional dream that when you dig deeper and think outside of the box good things can happen. Maybe Fallon’s idea at the time seemed premature or presumptuous. But the ‘gods’ had it come together after a while with the right biz players and life partner.

Whether love interest or pure dream. Gotta dig deeper for the winning team. Thinking outside of the box too. Then good things happen for you. Maybe Fallon idea seemed premature. But now more than money-making dujour.  The ‘gods’ had it come together. The right players, partner and life’s pleasure.

The ‘big diesel’ is talking stuff again. Shaquille O’Neal is saying he’s in the top 3 of all-time NBA centers. On a list of his all-time greats he puts Bill Russell at #1, Kareem Abdul Jabbar at #2 and Patrick Ewing at #7. Shaq and Ewing might not have been the most elegant in the paint, but probably the most dominant.

At a recent statue unveiling event, Shaq told Sports Illustrated and other media “There’s two things that made a crowd go crazy: a deep, contested three and a dunk. I always tried to dunk to intimidate my opponents and to make the crowd go crazy.” Everyone has different reasons that put them in ‘drive.’

During their NBA careers Shaq and Ewing brought something different to the game. Ewing had a medium range shot while guarding Shaq in the paint was a hassle. They know whether in college or beyond, the key to improving their game as athletes or industry leaders is to discover strengths.

Ewing would probably love to see the Knicks do better. Shaq’s happy for the Lakers’ honor as a go-getter. As the Final Four squads have been set, they and others hope their team gets to cut down the net. It will be about how stars and role players deliver the goods on the court with hunger and hustle.

These days many sports fans are glued to the screens and screams of NCAA March Madness. The upsets have been dropping top teams out the picture. But TV fans are happy to see that Oprah and Michelle are back on the scene. They’re taking power lunch and power crunch to fun-time places.

Obama recently appeared as-then First Lady on Master Chef Junior as she gave some ‘recipe for life’ advice to young chefs about “getting an education, doing their best and pushing themselves towards their highest self.” Her tips were like the kind a coach gives athletes before signing day or sweet-16 game time.

Formal education is one thing but Oprah and Michelle got game in bigger things too. They’ve achieved ‘firsts’ in ways that make you wanna cheer them in bursts. They might say it takes a mindset that puts purpose and passion in focus. Plus, the lifestyle they enjoy is related to the life shifts they employ.

Oprah’s busy re-kindling her acting chops. Her role in Greenleaf on OWN has her on the small screen. But it’s the work in her latest ‘justice project’ that’s getting attention. Looks like another ABC Bachelor got hooked, well, sort of. The finale of potential lovers was filled with the usual ceremonies. Many romance hopes got dashed but other opportunities got cashed. Not to be left out is America’s Got Talent and Little Big Shots with Tyra Banks & Steve Harvey in different ‘hosted by’ roles.

Banks is set to replace Nick Cannon and shared with E! News that “I love how AGT brings that feeling into everyone’s home, capturing the best of people who come out and give it their all to make those big, fierce and outrageous dreams come true.” It’s a case of being born to be wild or born to be awesome.

Both Harvey and Banks started their rise on different tracks, he as a comic and she as a model. They’ve gradually built their reputations in showbiz proving what can be achieved by being good in your lane. They might even agree that competition is no sweat, threat or fret when you ‘just do you’ in a freeing way.

Banks is best known for her days as a Talk Show Host and as ‘smize queen’ on ‘Next Top Model.’ Meanwhile Harvey has turned his Standup Comedy days into a TV hosting bonanza. They’ve spread their wings and made career moves by taking their main gifting and creative positioning to new market levels.

Harvey’s had visible mess-ups in the public eye and Banks had hers too. About her new gig she says “Since I was a little girl, I’ve been obsessed with grandiose acts and performers who make the seemingly impossible possible.” They bloom by going from imaginary to legendary and being good for the long haul.
