What do folks do when they need to get-away? Well it depends on the reason for such a move. It could simply be stepping away from the grind with a quick weekend trip or vacation R&R. Sometimes it’s for health reasons as was reported in the news about women’s basketball head coach C. Vivian Stringer.

Wendy Williams and Nick Cannon have been down that road too. Williams returned to her talk show after stepping away for a couple months. As rumors swirled around issues in her marriage, she says it was more about dealing with Graves disease. Now she’s back as her story became its own hot topic.

Cannon once had to pull-back his regular schedule when dealing with blood clots in his lung. He left his radio show and reduced the demand on his time. He has since cranked things up again with his various hosting, producing and podcasting roles in media. He made sure to avoid a spinout in his dreams.

They took similar steps to avoid things going off the rails from a career skid. In part they had to manage how their story became tabloid news. Williams, the one-time radio gossip queen finds her own story making headlines. Some fans aren’t satisfied with the explanation but maybe the dust will soon settle.

Cannon was a fill-in host while she was out. She kept him up-to-date on what she was going through. Their bond might be in knowing there are times when ‘self’ gotta come first. Cannon is the host of the new reality show Masked Singer. Artist T-Pain was the first winner and he’s off to rebranding himself. Most folks know him as a rapper. Williams and Cannon had similar moments of having to deal with self-care. At the time, he left his morning radio show and cut back on his other duties. Sometimes self-care isn’t just about the physical. It might also be the spiritual and emotional. In the case of Williams, it might even be relational and her marriage.

There’re times when the grind can get in the way of the love. Williams doesn’t want that love at home to fade. But the grind can also take away from the love of the game. It’s that hustle-love of the game that keeps us self-motivated. Even beyond health reasons, being self-motivated is important to level-up your play.

After his America’s Got Talent hosting gig ended, Cannon stepped-away for a bit. Since then he’s returned to TV on Masked Singer wearing a Turban. He says that came from spiritual reflection. Clearly, he took some time for ‘self’ which is now seen in his latest swagger of being self-assured.

Williams will be back to her old self, giving fans new reasons to watch. Some might want to know more about the rumors behind her time-off. Cannon is back to ramping up his work in showbiz. They know if you want to ‘run run run’ in the game you need to be self-aware and do self-care to have ‘fun fun fun.’

So who thinks the Grammy Awards was a hit? Well it depends on what group you ask. There’re some who feel the Grammy’s got a problem with Hip-Hop. But there’re others who feel that women were well represented across award categories and show performances. That Alicia Keys is something else.

The hype is over! With another Superbowl in the books, some in biz are counting their wins and maybe even losses. Whether it was the low-scoring game or the low-lights from the halftime show, the game saw a dip in viewership. The crowd-favorites were the pre-event concerts and post-game after-parties.

As the cross-talk in sports circles about the game and the culture gets heated, folks wonder if there’s a message for the NFL brand. As a former NFL player, Terry Crews might have something to say from a sports point of view. While Taraji P. Henson might let ‘Cookie’ say her piece as an ‘Empire’ cultural icon.

But beyond that, they might reveal why nothing compares to the high they feel in their careers these days. The pre rollout of TVs fall season line-up has some new shows and returning favorites. The promos for Empire and Star, Chicago Fire and The Voice are already in regular rotation. Most advertisers have probably been lined-up. There’re lots of fans who’re thinking ‘I can’t wait’ for things to get popping.

As announcements unfold, so too will word on the new iPhone. The buzz is building as Apple is set to unveil its new gizmo. When you think about today’s modern tech devices it boils down to whether they’re powered by Android, IOS or some other smart system. So what does it mean to be powered by ‘#Flow?’

It’s a question Tyler Perry and Tyra Banks help us answer from their showbiz journey. Perry’s mojo went from the ‘ashes to the stashes’ in becoming a major player. The nitty gritty of their career path and field of dreams is in how they’ve experienced flow as ‘fuller levels of wow’ moments in their Hollywood rise.

Perry’s story relates to everyday folks in a simple way. His was built around strong faith and inner resolve. I’ve seen that in my own life in what I like to describe as ‘4th down and 10’ wow moments. It’s where when your back’s against the wall, the big ‘G’o-d (original divine) sends a play that moves your dream along.

These days Tyra’s been hosting America’s Got Talent, a program that helps others achieve their showbiz dreams. She took over hosting duties after making a name and brand for herself on America’s Next Top Model. The factor both TV shows have in common is getting us to ask the question, ‘what makes you lit?’

Usually, the things that make us ‘lit’ are found in our gifts and talents. Plus, they also make us flow. For Tyra as a former model, beyond the physical beauty appeal, the thing that makes her lit is her presence. For Perry, the thing that makes him lit is his writing genius. These ‘lit factors’ keep serving them well.

Just think about the ‘lit factors’ in music, movies and mainstream culture and how flow plays a big part. So for example, whether it’s about sex, sports or success, we get our juices flowing from envisioning, practicing and performing our best moves. That’s where memories get made and dreams get paid.

For Perry, he tells the story of producing his first stage play where nobody showed up. He could have decided to shut down his dream but didn’t because of his faith and resolve. He went back at it a few more times with similar results. Fast forward to things today and we see the outcome and wisdom he’s gained.

As if to remind me of my own career path and field of dreams, I’ve seen some of those moments too. I’ve held events at venues where no one showed. I’ve been using my gift for years writing blogs where no one talks back. But these experiences have helped me find flow from faith to lit to outcome to wisdom.

Among the moments of hit or miss, win or loss there’re those exciting times in ‘fuller levels of wow.’ The wisdom gained has helped me see flow similar to how Perry & Tyra might tell it. Whether on the career path or field of dreams, it’s about experiencing moments of bliss on the road to a life of happiness.

Tip: A new season of success on the career path or field of dreams means envisioning, practicing and performing your best moves with your juices flowing in the grooves.

Looks like another ABC Bachelor got hooked, well, sort of. The finale of potential lovers was filled with the usual ceremonies. Many romance hopes got dashed but other opportunities got cashed. Banks is set to replace Nick Cannon and shared with E! Both Harvey and Banks started their rise on different tracks, he as a comic and she as a model. Prince Harry is coming to America yet again! This time it’s for the Invictus Games where wounded warriors compete in sports. The last time Harry was here TMZ photos had him in a bind. Simon Cowell is coming back to America too. So he and Harry made a deal with fans for shifting gears into a new grind.

Cowell joins the Judges Panel on America’s Got Talent (AGT). About his new role he tells the Hollywood Reporter “When you’re there, when you discover a star … you’ll never forget that moment.” They remind us of the best thing about having the most fun, games and value as a team player or business leader.

After spending 10 years in the British Army, Harry wanted to find ways to honor those he served with who were injured. So the idea of the Invictus Games was brought to life in 2014. While some might be dealing with a loss in their physical or mental condition, the event gives them a way to re-imagine their potential.

Harry hopes this will inspire people everywhere on expanding their options. For Cowell, his return to the American scene is a kind of professional reboot. He’s the creator/producer of AGT and many other talent programs. He feels it’s some good times wishing on a star, to follow dreams where they are in going far.

The thing that makes them similar yet different is their approach to reinventing themselves. Harry has changed the perception since his Vegas visit, while Cowell continues to change the game in TV ratings. Simon Cowell is getting in gear for his return to American TV. After a two-year absence while becoming a Dad, he’s going to be a new judge on America’s Got Talent (AGT). He’ll replace Howard Stern who left at the end of the season. So Cowell and P. Diddy want to take talent to the breakout point in performance.

Diddy just wrapped-up his Revolt Music Conference in Miami. He told emerging players that “There’re levels to your hustle so you have to continually evolve and keep your feet on the neck of your dream.” He knows there’re primetime skills that are great for paying the bills and getting to the next level.

His rise to mogul began as a teenager when he ran a paper route. He later went on to intern for a record company exec while he was a Howard University student. In the #AskDiddy Q&A he shared how he found his niche to get rich. His coaching advice was on the X’s and O’s of the music game and show business.

Every industry/sport has X’s and O’s for playing the game or upping the ladder. Diddy says it’s having a gameplan to greatness that sets folks apart. Getting there is about turning a low-end task into a stepping-stone for mastering the skills to reach high-end goals. He knows what worked for him can work for others.

Now that AGT might have new judges maybe they’ll give Diddy a look. He brings crossover appeal to whatever he does. It’s like a basketball player with a crossover dribble who creates more points and fan-demonium. Diddy and Cowell know crossover skills are great for having more value and bags of money.
