It’s not often that people get to hang-out with Kings and Queens. That’s usually reserved for folks in high standing. Then there’s Bear Grylls who gets to bond with celebrities around survival skills. He and President Obama stepped-out ‘the bubble’ to send a message to D.C. and leave a mark in the wild.

In a clip on Today.com from his show Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Obama is heard saying “This has got to be one of the best days of my presidency. First of all, I’m not in the office. Second of all, I’m not in a suit.” It’s a case of them making a point about wildest dreams by stepping out their comfort zone.

On the show celebrities take a discovery journey. They build confidence and after a while things happen less by chance and more by choice. Overcoming a challenge in the office or the wild is good for leaving a mark or being unbreakable. Plus, a sense of purpose helps with ‘leaving marks before the concrete dries.’

Grylls turned his early career as an SAS soldier into a Reality TV Adventurer. Much of his claim to fame is with beating common fears, taking climbs and surviving the wilds. For him, stepping out the bubble at work is fun, like playing with plastic wrap. Squeeze here before the popping champagne sound you hear.

He says to the British Telegraph “I don’t believe we’ve begun yet. I still think we’re at ground zero, and if we really get our act together over the next few years we can build that into an absolutely huge, huge business around the world.” Obama wants to build a legacy and Grylls wants to build outdoor adventures.

Around survival skills with peeps he’s fond. Grylls and Obama step-out the bubble. Sends message to D.C. leaving marks in the rubble.

As seen in Today.com clip. He and Obama take a trip. On Running Wild with Bear Grylls. Obama seemed open to new thrills. Sees it as a best day in office as president. Part of being a Beltway resident. This time he’s not in a suit. Making a point without horns to toot. Stepping out comfort zone to bear fruit.

On show celebs take journey of discovery. Building confidence in their ability. Like fire under the feet as a test. Success less by chance but choice and zest. Getting over challenge in the office or wild. Good for adult and adventurous child. Leave a mark or be unbreakable. A purpose like concrete that’s unshakable.

Grylls began career as a soldier. Now Reality TV’s freelance Adventurer. Claim to fame is beating common fears. Surviving climbs past mud, sweat and tears. Stepping out the bubble is like playing. With plastic wrap found in packaging. Squeeze here to sound the pop. Champagne flows and you don’t stop.

Telling British media it’s just the start. Of what he wants to do worlds apart. Hoping to go from ground zero. To renowned survivalist hero. Thinking this could become huge venture. An enterprise in global outdoor adventure. So while Obama works to build a legacy. Grylls hopes to build skill-set supremacy.

Who can get 2000 males-only in an arena to talk about “What Men Think?” That happened in Chicago recently during the season-opener taping for Steve Harvey’s daytime show. It seems there were jeers and sparks flying. Moreover, this is a case of Harvey having his hands in the branding cooking jar yet again.

When asked by the New York Post about blazing new trails Harvey said “The only thing I was really confident about was that I would have a different voice in daytime that wasn’t there before… and about the fact I know I’m funny, and funny works when all else fails.” Harvey markets his success flavors well.

He’s good at changing gears or moving careers by busting-out towards ‘got next.’ Harvey’s become an expert on relationship counsel and mentoring advice. Right before our eyes he’s gone from ‘King’ to common touch, from big personality to bigger person and from jokester to ‘master of the airwaves.’

Making it pop as one of the comedy ‘Kings’ was not the end of the road but the start of his next rise. It’s almost as if he’s turning the concept of the Good Humor ice-cream truck into a Hollywood Mogul enterprise. He sells many success flavors with more happy returns to come from his wildest dreams.

These days he’s being described as “the most powerful man in daytime.” He’s also got a new custom Bobblehead celebrity figure as a baseball park freebie. Harvey wouldn’t be shy about wearing a white suit like the Good Humor Man. He’s a shining star who’s a fun guy to his family and millions of female fans.

This year is being billed as the “Summer of Women in Sports.” With the success of women’s soccer and breakout female coaches in the NBA and NFL, now we have the first female Army Rangers. As the U.S. Tennis Open is set to kick-off in NY, Serena Williams would welcome these women into an exclusive club.

Even before this tournament, Williams had already joined “Club10” of Least Expected, Well Respected where these female Rangers now belong. They’ve met the same high standards as men for rising higher and running things. As winners they know success comes with equal expectation but different sacrifice.

What 1st Lt. Shaye Haver and Capt. Kristen Griest have done is big time stuff! Training Commander Sgt. Maj. Colin Boley was quoted in the Business Insider saying “I didn’t think that they would physically be able to bear the weight, and I thought they would quit or get hurt, and they have proved me wrong.”

Meanwhile for Williams it’s a chance to make history. She’s going after the Grand Slam of winning five major championships in a row. That hasn’t been done since Steffi Graf in 1988. Williams told CNN “I’ve faced a lot of adversities. I’ve learned that I have a tough mind and if I win I’m going to take a vacation.”

As if Williams isn’t busy enough, she’s also taking a pre-med college course. She wants to find medical options for her sister Venus who’s suffering from a rare condition. So whether people advance through Military School or Big Time University, it’s about making waves by moving closer to the top of their game.

It’s a little over a month away but the buzz is growing. The #1 Hit Show on FOX last season is set to return on September 23rd. Fans are getting word that things are going to be even hotter on the show. So as a preview, Taraji P. Henson tells Harper’s Bazaar magazine what inspires her appeal as Empire Vixen.

Lifting her wig during a photo shoot, Henson is quoted in theGrio.com as saying “We are vulnerable every time we put our art out there. Underneath that hair is my soul, and it’s me, it’s mine.” She knows that the best spark for the workplace grind that’s good for hearts and minds is bringing the right spirit to the office.

She’s become a fashion trendsetter but her spirit and work style are shaped by those who’ve inspired her life. Her acting chops come from studying Bette Davis. After 16 years hosting The Daily Show, Jon Stewart called it quits. He’s stepping away to do new things. On the flipside, Usher and Alicia Keys want folks to not quit. He’s focused on a lower dropout rate, while she’s on keeping it real. Stewart changed the game but Usher and Keys want to change the players.

The New York Times says Stewart’s legacy “Challenged journalism in the public arena for the responsibility of educating adult Americans on the truths of their day.” Usher tells the Huffington Post that for him it’s about inspiring kids to find their spark, be entrepreneurial and give back to their community.

Stewart did for his audience what Usher wants to do for students. Their message is about how to shuffle the deck of their talent and thinking. It’s about elevating their hustle by loving something with a sense of purpose. In so doing, both have increased their shine which is an important lesson for young and older.

They are among the winners and leaders who rock the house and climb the charts. Stewart’s show was a mix of comedy, politics and journalism. It was traditional news and contemporary views, sort of like how Usher and Keys’ music are a mix of old-school and new-school. Their success-combo is in yin and yang.

Usher plans to double the number of students in his “New Look” project until “We’re One World, Powered by Service.” In his parting words Stewart said “Chaos can’t sustain itself. It never could.”  In a way, they remind us that ‘upgrading you’ takes embracing service, ongoing learning and a passionate lifestyle.

It’s no longer a matter of debate that Netflix is here to stay. The online movie outlet keeps raising the stakes in entertainment. Consumers are more open to new choices and stars to new paychecks. That might also be true for Tom Cruise. His ‘Mission Impossible’ rollout is a masterpiece work of art.

A movie review in The Atlantic says about Cruises’ stunts, “It may no longer constitute ‘acting,’ but the star’s physically demanding performance powers the latest installment of the spy franchise.” That’s like saying Cruise doesn’t leave home for work without his market edge seen as ‘genius in action.’

For almost 20 years this movie franchise has been breaking box office records. It’s a spinoff from the TV series back in the day. The current ‘Rogue Nation’ edition is described as “Better than Bourne, Better than Bond.” That’s how everyday genius at work gets described as “better than good, better than most.”

That’s special when co-workers see you the way Cruise’s co-stars see him. The movies are fun and exciting for viewing. Know someone who just had a birthday? If so they’re one year older and wiser. That’s how it feels when celebrating your next milestone is less about age and more about experiences. Maybe that’s why actor/singer Tyrese and Richard Branson from Virgin Group face different challenges for next-level living.

Branson who turned 65 said “I can assure you I have no plans to retire. I can’t imagine not working, as I’ve never seen work as work and play as play – it’s all just living.” It’s really how game changers, dream chasers and glass-ceiling breakers keep things fun. They stretch themselves in mind, body and spirit.

While not in the same league, Tyrese’s challenge is getting airplay on mainstream radio. He doesn’t put limits on his career and thinks it’s not fair for others to put limits on his music. Branson’s a guy with business savvy most of his life. In some circles he’s called a serial entrepreneur having a hand in various biz ventures. Less about age, but being in the zone. So Richard Branson and Tyrese face a challenge that’s here. Dude this is serious but have no fear.

Branson turned 65 and lights a fire. Says “I can assure you, no plans to retire.” Really can’t imagine not even working. Work as work and play as play – it’s all living. How game changers and dreamers stay on the run. As they and glass-ceiling breakers keep things fun. Stretching mind, body and spirit in the sun.

The summer season’s in full swing. For some this means more sun and surf. For others it’s about concerts and cookouts. If there’s a ‘song of the summer’ stuck in your head, Taylor Swift understands. She’s turned her ‘1989’ album into a world-tour celebration of her pop music career reinvention.

As if to keep the party going, Swift has teamed-up with Keds footwear for a ‘Ladies First’ global rebrand campaign. Keds president Chris Lindner said it’s “A celebration of amazing women like Taylor Swift who are blazing new trails every day. From CEOing to BFFing, these ladies are doing it all.”

For Swift it’s just another example of what it takes to reinvent yourself. She started out her career as a country music artist. But she made the right moves to build her chops and rebrand her stuff in pop music. She might say it has been a journey of next step, then next chapter and arriving at the next level.

Her story has been one of learning from her mistakes. She spent a lot of time listening to music from before her time. That was a turning point for her next step in the creative writing process. Plus, when things went sour in her relationships she would just ‘shake it off’ and turn the page to her next chapter.

Girl power is in the air (maybe even the water). First it was the women’s soccer team’s NYC parade. Then it was Serena Williams winning her sixth Wimbledon title. In both cases there was history made. So imagine Serena Williams left south-central and Jill Ellis left geek-central to realize their career dreams.

Williams has won all the major tournaments so far this year. After the match she said “At the beginning of the year, this is the one I really wanted to win. So that was the first thing and the main thing on my mind.” Those words might also ring true for U.S. women’s soccer coach Jill Ellis in winning the World Cup.

At age fourteen Ellis moved to the U.S. from England and with that saw a sort of professional reset. She earned technical writing degrees but her love for soccer pulled her from Corporate America back into the sport. Williams made her own moves leaving Compton for a better life similar to that in the Hamptons.

Their dream, as with others, is like a remix of ‘how cool is hot and hot is cool.’ It takes branding your main strengths to be hot. But it takes flexing your alter-ego to be cool. Ellis moved past her ‘geekness’ into soccer greatness. Williams flexed her on-court passion and was later featured in chic ‘red carpet’ fashion.

Their journeys are different but their goal’s the same. Along the way they had to refresh their game and groove. Williams says she’s been doing more dancing as part of her overall workout. For Ellis it was about a shift in strategy during the quarterfinals. She made some changes to the ‘team starter’ playlist.

At the City Hall ceremony Abby Wambach said, “In my opinion, all the women up on this stage believed in that dream, kept believing in that dream.” In a sense, career dreams don’t lie, they burn. They get burned into our brains and storylines. They can get rekindled by a parade and by not letting the dream fade.

So who’s up for a parade? That’s the breaking news from the office of NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio. He was approached by another elected official with the idea. It will be the first for honoring a women’s team. How fitting that’ll be since NJs Carli Lloyd brought her ‘it-factor’ to the soccer world stage.

Head coach Jill Ellis said, “I’m so happy for them, so happy for every little girl who dreams about this.” The looks on their faces said a lot about the game. It also mirrored ‘happiness in the workplace’ as a flashback to the playground. What you bring to the game is what you celebrate at the party.

Lloyd said she was on a mission for the team. She’s been developing her talent even before she played for Rutgers. Her former coach and those on her club team remember times where she was fierce. Her happiness on the field (like that on a job) rises by turning talent into skill and training into expertise.

The U.S. women’s team was often called a 23-player squad. That’s not just about numbers but also synergy. There was a balance of old-timers and newbies. Lloyd’s ‘it-factor’ was more than talent but also her sense of teamwork. As a player she scored three goals and as captain she shared the spotlight.

Lots of history was made in the game with Lloyd racking-up a few. The happiness she first spoke of was how surreal the moment. It’s not a feeling you fight but one that lets you float on cloud nine. What that says about ‘it-factor’ is her having the midas touch in skill, chemistry and screams from cheering fans.

Head coach happy as can be. Says girls did their duty. This for every girl who dreams. About being on winning teams. Looks on their faces said a lot. Like good food from grandma’s pot. Happiness at work or at play. Sure can happen any given day. Raise your game with more hearty. Celebrate like a 1999 party.

Lloyd’s mission for the team was there. Developing her talent year to year. Even before her Rutgers playing days. Was a force with a fierce gaze. Former coach giving her much props. Club team members say she’s got hops. Her happiness on the field as in a job. Comes with training, skill and expertise blob.

Women’s team was 23-player strong. Not just numbers but synergy along. Good balance of old-timers as well as upstarts. With coaches and role players doing their parts. Lloyd’s ‘it-factor’ in talent and teamwork mix. A combo for her game fix. Scoring three goals as a key player. Sharing the spotlight as team leader.

Lots of history in the making. With beauty and grace for the taking. Lloyd had hers in fair share. A surreal moment of happiness in the air. Not a feeling you want to fight. But floats you on cloud nine day or night. What that says about ‘it-factor’ is this. Midas touch in skill, chemistry and screaming-fan bliss.
