A New Way to Shine with Highlights, Insights and Media-bites that’s Exciting (Old-School Flava)

There’s a new ‘B’ in town..that’s Samantha Bee. She’s the recent late night host and the only female in the ranks. Meanwhile, back in Harlem USA, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is launching a new Charter school in his hometown. They’ve found new wind beneath their wings for hitting the sweet spot & lifting street value.

In a press statement Combs said “I want to impact the lives of young people in my community and build future leaders. All our children should be able to pursue their dreams. That is something I can impact with this school.” Diddy has gone from ‘good to gush’ by turning his career milestones into dream projects.

Before getting her own gig, Bee worked with Jon Stewart on the Daily Show for 12 years. Combs as the all-time rapper is teaming up with noted Educators to bring a new slice of success to students. They have used their early days in showbiz to figure-out how to crack the code or break the mold in media & music.

It’s that same tenacity that he hopes to bring to students. Maybe what works for connecting smarts to hearts might be the same as what’s helped him go from rapper to mogul. It’s in reaching people where they are and taking them to a place where whatever it takes to win, feels good. That’s the real hotspot.

The buzz around Bee these days is whether her rise will help to expand the club of female late night hosts. When asked about Stewart’s role she said “He gave me the platform for me to teach myself.” Maybe that’s how Diddy sees this effort as the next frontier in his quest to flex more eagle-high dreams.

There’s a new ‘B’ in town. With enough honey to go ‘round. That’s Samantha Bee from Comedy Central. Now with her own TBS portal. Meanwhile back on the Harlem block. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs brings new school house rock. Both with new wind beneath their wings. Hitting sweet spot and street value things.

In press statement saying he wants to impact. Lives of young people as a ‘hood contract. To build future leaders and teams. So that kids can pursue their dreams. Something about doing it in school. Where learning is the main rule. He’s gone from ‘good to gush.’ So he wants kids to feel the same rush.

Before getting her own show. Bee worked in Jon Stewart’s comedy row. Spent 12 years doing funny bits. Now she’s ready to do the hits. Combs as all-time rapper’s delight. Teams-up with Educators in the fight. Bringing kids a new slice of success. To crack the code or break the mold after recess.

Same tenacity he hopes they gain. Knowing how to channel the pain. What works for connecting smarts to hearts. Helped him go from rapper to mogul parts. In reaching people where they are. Taking them to place of a star. Doing whatever it takes to win. A real hotspot that pops a grin.

Buzz around Bee is if her rise. Will expand the club or reach the wise. Female hosts in late night ranks. And some women in their spanks. When asked about Stewart’s mentor role. Kinda wants to say ‘bless his soul.’ It’s how Diddy sees his next milestone. Eagle-high dreams to stepping stone.

With Higher Hopes, Bolder Dreams and Greater Teams (Old-School Flava)

The newest player in late night TV has entered the building! That’s how some saw the debut of CBS’ Late Night with Stephen Colbert. He joins the ranks of comedy hosts who mix politics and showbiz eclectics. Competition for late night eyeballs is on, as Colbert’s hunch is that pop culture can be the star teacher.

He tells USA Today about his new role saying “It gives me everything I want. I like meeting the guests, I like the grind, I like a live audience, I love to hear the laughter. It’s the only job I could imagine that was a promotion.” This is a case of landing a promotion by learning the ropes and not being stuck on stupid.

Colbert made a grand entry with Joe Biden, Jeb Bush and other guests, plus a cameo from Jon Stewart. His interviewing skills and comedic slant are getting people’s attention. Reaching this next level has been a steady output of content built around ‘getting ready for great’ before his breakaway.

It’s been years preparing for this moment after spending time as an understudy and reporter on the Daily Show. This helped him spin-off his own gig on Comedy Central. Hardly anyone questions whether he was the right one to replace Letterman. And even Jimmy Fallon welcomed him to Network prime time.

Colbert adds “I’m looking forward to being sincerely interested in what (guests) have to say without having to translate it through an idiot’s mouth.” His background is built on improv and reputation built on his real love. No matter the guests, Colbert hopes people watch, listen, laugh and learn the civics lesson.

Newest player in late night TV game. Someone who entered the building with a name. Steps-in to host CBS’ nighttime comedy fix. With politics and showbiz top picks. Competition for late night eyeballs in play. Colbert sees pop culture as star teacher of the day.

Tells USA Today his feelings on new role. Gives him everything he wants to spur his soul. Likes the guests the grind and live crowd. Loves to hear when people laugh out loud. Only job he saw as his next promotion. Not stuck on stupid with new found recognition.

Made grand entry with Joe, Jeb and Jon. Other guests too that made his debut #1. Interviewing skills without the endless rant. Getting people’s attention with comedic slant. Reaching next level with steady output of content. Built around getting ready for great breakaway moment.

Years preparing for this gradual rise. A big step-up towards the ultimate prize. Time as understudy and Daily Show reporter. Helped to spin-off own gig as Comedy Central anchor. Hardly questioned as the right one for Letterman’s job. Even Jimmy Fallon welcomed him to the prime time club.

Looks forward to having best scoop. From variety of folks who’re in the loop. Without needing to translate stuff through. An idiot’s mouth that’s right for the zoo. A background built on theater improv. A reputation built on his real love. The guests he hopes will ring true. As we watch, listen, laugh and learn civics anew.

After 16 years hosting The Daily Show, Jon Stewart called it quits. He’s stepping away to do new things. On the flipside, Usher and Alicia Keys want folks to not quit. He’s focused on a lower dropout rate, while she’s on keeping it real. Stewart changed the game but Usher and Keys want to change the players.

The New York Times says Stewart’s legacy “Challenged journalism in the public arena for the responsibility of educating adult Americans on the truths of their day.” Usher tells the Huffington Post that for him it’s about inspiring kids to find their spark, be entrepreneurial and give back to their community.

Stewart did for his audience what Usher wants to do for students. Their message is about how to shuffle the deck of their talent and thinking. It’s about elevating their hustle by loving something with a sense of purpose. In so doing, both have increased their shine which is an important lesson for young and older.

They are among the winners and leaders who rock the house and climb the charts. Stewart’s show was a mix of comedy, politics and journalism. It was traditional news and contemporary views, sort of like how Usher and Keys’ music are a mix of old-school and new-school. Their success-combo is in yin and yang.

Usher plans to double the number of students in his “New Look” project until “We’re One World, Powered by Service.” In his parting words Stewart said “Chaos can’t sustain itself. It never could.”  In a way, they remind us that ‘upgrading you’ takes embracing service, ongoing learning and a passionate lifestyle.

After 15 years hosting Daily Show. Jon Stewart felt it was time to go. Calling it quits on the same night. As the GOP debate fight. While Usher and Keys put folks in the know. Saying don’t quit or hideout on the low. Want to lower the dropout rate. As Stewart changed the game, they’re changing young folks’ plate.

New York Times talks about Stewart’s stature. A legacy of challenging the journalism specter. Believes it should educate on truths of the day. Giving citizen-America picture of a better way. Usher tells media it’s about spark and entrepreneurial spirit. So that kids flex their mojo and come with it.

Jon did for fans and his market standing. What Usher and Keys want for talent and thinking. A message about how to shuffle the deck. And to raise the roof for the heck. Elevating hustle & flow to heights above. With a sense of purpose for something they love. More color like a butterfly and grace like a dove.

They who rock the house as winners. Those who climb the charts as leaders. Stewart’s show a comedy-politics mix. And a pinch of today’s journalistic fix. Dabbling in traditional news. Showcasing pundits and contemporary views. UsherKeys’ old-school/new-school sound. A ‘yin yang’ success-combo to be found.

Usher to double students in the group. Teaching them good stuff rich like chicken soup. His “New Look” project built to persist. With “We’re One World, Powered by Service” gist. Stewart signs-off doing what he should. Saying “Chaos can’t sustain itself, it never could.” Telling folks to ‘upgrade you’ even in the hood.
