Simone Biles & Steve Harvey Share Great Memories and Power Moves for ‘Woo Woo Wooing’ the Crowd

It’s a kind of on-again off-again story that some folks want to just go away. Whether Diddy and Cassie are back together has others guessing. But there’s no guessing these days as to who is seen as the sexiest man alive. Idris Elba is getting his time to shine in the hunk-a-licious spotlight. Yea he’s moved on up.

Lots of folks have different feelings about things we try to do to move on or move up in life. Maybe that’s where Simon Biles comes in. She recently became the first American to win a medal in every event at a World Championship. She even got the silver in the uneven bars, probably her least favorite routine.

Biles is the most decorated American Olympic gymnast in history. She recently pulled-off the feat of performing at a championship while suffering with kidney stones. She described the experience as “life wanting her to sit-out but she put that request on hold.” She got through it with sheer ‘hustle love.’

Whether rekindling a relationship or reinventing yourself in the game, two key factors are to feel the love and feed the brand. Add to that how Simone Biles and Steve Harvey share great memories and power moves for ‘woo woo wooing’ the crowd. A certain magic keeps them rockin’ & rollin’ on success street.

When you checkout how they and others keep ‘going to the well’ and finding their ‘money stream’ there’re things they know about being in the flow. But there might also be some things they learned at Big Time University. That’s where you go to reinvent yourself and level-up your game by having a new:

  1. Look

Every so often Harvey will post a throwback picture of his days doing standup. The laugh isn’t always in the joke as much as it might be in the suit he was wearing. Dressing in the ‘90s for success has a different look than dressing for success today. How we reinvent ourselves sometimes needs a new look.

  1. View

The look is something that happens on the outside. But the view also happens on the inside. Biles was dealing with kidney stones on the inside so she had to have the right attitude in order to come out on top. It can be hard to reinvent yourself or level-up your game without a new attitude or big-picture view.

  1. Push

Biles knows that it’s not an easy road to return to the next Olympics after her breakout performance the last time. She’s on a new push to make the team and rack-up the score. When you’re the one others have their eyes on, it could be a blessing or a curse. So her push helps her reach for more as a big timer.

  1. Promise

Harvey tells the story of finding himself in a bad spot in a past relationship. He also had low moments where he was ready to give-up on his dreams. At those times, one thing that helped to turn things around was a promise he made to himself and to God. A promise can help us move on or move up in life.

Harvey’s new-look website gives clues for where he’s trying to go in biz. Biles’ new push has her performing at a major level with two years left to go before the next Olympics. The way they go about reinventing themselves is a good reminder for how a new attitude can help us reach for something good.

Tip: When you reinvent yourself, it takes a new look and a new view to create a new you.

Rihanna & Steve Harvey on How Doing Great Work Takes More Than Just Winning at Awards Shows

No matter how you feel about the recent Emmys, it’s safe to say the stars came out before night. The pre-show gets folks ‘spilling some tea’ or flashing some skin. The fashion runway is where some go to work. It’s also where some come to play. But doing great work is more than just winning at awards shows.

Think about Rihanna and her philanthropic efforts. She’s bringing attention and resources to the issue of global education. She’s putting a spotlight on places around the world where getting an education is less a right and more a luxury option. She hopes to train-up a ‘schooled generation.’

Recently Steve Harvey and his wife got props for social media posts of their grandchildren showing some home training. The Harvey’s were sure to give credit to the kids’ parents. The clips became a ‘cheek pinch’ moment that might even be seen some time later in a segment on his daytime TV show.

Their efforts remind us of the steps that are involved to train-up as a child or as an adult. Plus, there’s a difference between how we train-up for a job and how we level-up for a great performance. It’s as if life has an Act I with formal educational training and an Act II of more informal training that’s ongoing.

Rihanna made a similar point in a recent Op-ed article where she talked about her education experience in Barbados. But she’s also grateful for the global education she’s gotten from traveling the world through music. For them, great work and ‘hustle love’ is in travelling the 4-corners of success by way of:

  1. The Dream – and how gifts let you pop

In his book Harvey talks about discovering your gifts. A gift is like your secret sauce, your magic potion, your hidden gem. How gifts work is like popcorn. Each kernel has a pocket of water. As the temperature rises it becomes steam which makes the kernel pop. As your energy kicks-in, gifts let you rise & pop.

  1. The Calling – and how hope lets you shine

Oftentimes ‘calling’ is seen as a ‘church’ thing. But really calling comes in grades just like colors come in shades. Sometimes professional, sometimes spiritual. More generally for Rihanna and Harvey, it’s the true essence for which before they were born they were equipped to be a lighthouse to the world.

  1. The Purpose – and how heart-string lets you care

It seems like Rihanna is expanding her global outreach with a greater sense of purpose. Purpose for her might be to raise-up kids with broader educational opportunities. Purpose for Harvey might be to train-up young boys into manhood. In other words, purpose is about how they serve some earthly good.

  1. The Flow – and how love-force lets you go

Imagine if the ocean had no current, what would make it go? If your home had no electricity, what would make your devices go? Well love-force is like current and electricity. It lets you go. And whether the going for Rihanna and Harvey is about ‘hustle love’ at work or play it lets them move and groove.

Rumor has it Rihanna’s working on her next project. Some say it’s gonna to be reggae-strong. Time will tell. In the meantime, she’s busy putting her passion to work in other ways. Who knows what Harvey’s got up his sleeves. But as they travel the 4-corners of success they get to level-up their name and their game.

Tip: Successful people use GPS as their ‘Go-to Positioning System’ to get things poppin’ and rollin’ for a great performance at work.

Talkback: Was the Emmys a hit or a miss? Was there a ‘cheek pinch’ moment?

Tom Brady & Steve Harvey Turn Their Work Muscle and Side Hustle into a Formula for Rocking Their Game

As the ‘lazy hazy crazy’ days of summer get ready to roll on, fans at home and abroad will be cheering their sports teams. Whether it’s at the College World Series on the baseball diamond or the World Cup on the soccer field, they’ll be watching for that big play while chewing on their favorite snack foods.

These days, Oprah’s summer reading is giving some press to Tom Brady’s new book. On a recent interview on OWN he talked about his ‘winning ways’ and approach to peak performance.  Meanwhile, the summer TV ratings are getting a big kick out of Celebrity Family Feud hosted by Steve Harvey.

Some people ‘feel the love’ for Brady and Harvey for how they’ve risen to the occasion time after time. In a sense, they’ve turned their work muscle and side hustle into a formula for rocking their game. Brady’s a 5-time Superbowl champion. Harvey’s hosting so many TV shows that bring laughs to young and old.

They enjoy the best work life ever in their field of dreams as masters of their game by acing the process. Plus they act like a player, think like a brand and keep taking their game to the next level. They work at getting the best out of themselves while inspiring peers, teammates and fans to reach higher and higher.

In a few weeks Brady will be spending a little less time on the golf course and more time in training camp. Harvey on the other hand just wrapped-up quality time spent with young boys at his mentoring camp. Both seem to practice the things needed for peak performance and market appeal by balancing:

  1. Main hustle vs side hustle

When you think of an entrée menu item there’s usually a main thing and some ‘sides.’ Similarly, on the success menu there’s usually a main hustle and some ‘sides.’ Brady’s main thing is football skills. Harvey’s main thing is comedy skills. But they have ‘sides’ like author and philanthropist to go along.

  1. Heart & soul vs silver and gold

Some fans might have a love/hate relationship with Brady or Harvey. It’s as if one day folks love them, another day not so much. But most won’t deny that it’s the heart and soul they bring to the game that adds to the party. They show us how heart & soul gives more ‘feeling and meaning’ to our silver & gold.

  1. Grow in score vs grow in service

Brady says he wants to play a few more years as long as he’s still competitive and having fun. While doing that he wants to be able to grown in score and in service. One deals with putting points on the board that leads to a win. The other deals with putting points on the map that leads to a legacy.

  1. Shine with mojo vs shine with flow

The joy in what they do shines through. Brady might not always carry a smile on his face but there’s an excitement he brings to fans when he’s on his game. Harvey’s known for making faces especially when talking with kids. They use their personal strengths to shine in ways that spread mojo and stir market flow.

So how’d Brady go from being drafted 199 of 200 to having one of the highest QB ratings? How’d Harvey go from stand-up to having the highest ratings on ABC’s Fun & Games Sunday line-up? They chose well from the success menu and now they get to shake their groove thing on the playing field and big stage.

Tip: Choosing the right entrée from the success menu means balancing your main hustle and side hustle in a way that adds heart and soul as well as silver and gold to your game.

A New Way to Shine with Highlights, Insights and Media-bites that’s Exciting (Old-School Flava)

The college football playoffs are set. Four teams will do battle on the gridiron. Fans are hoping for good fun and a great time. But before that we got to see Steve Harvey’s Showtime at the Apollo reboot & Lebron James named S.I. sportsperson of the year. They’ve got game and remind us how not to be lame.

In his interview with Sports Illustrated James said “I dreamed of being Batman, of making the NBA, of buying a house for my mom, of being the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air—the Fresh Prince of Akron, it was as big as I could dream.” These guys find the biggest motivation to achieve what no one saw coming.

Harvey’s hitting the flow as the ‘hosted by’ king. He could host a ‘dog & pony show’ and make it work even with only animals in the audience. For us regular folks we should replace the word ‘hosted’ with our own strengths. That’s like ‘created or produced or led by’ without letting stuff go to your head.

James knows this as the world’s greatest after bringing an NBA title to his hometown Cleveland. His childhood story of some rough times is one that could be defined as ‘greatness by.’ So far he’s taken two teams to the highest level of achievement and he’s working on doing the same in his community.

So Harvey’s taking a ‘jump’ with his talk show from Chicago to LA. James is upping his teammates’ roles. They know the purest motivation we get at home, the office or the marketplace is being ‘loved by’ God and the folks in your circles. Plus, they could buy back the block and spot their name on it.

College football playoffs set. Folks lining-up their bet. Four teams to do battle on the field. Fans hoping for high score yield. Before that there’s Steve Harvey’s Apollo reboot. While Lebron James takes S.I. sportsperson loot. Both still see ways to flash their game. In reminding us how not to be lame.

In S.I. interview James looked back. On how his dream did stack. Wanting to be Batman, NBA pro and so. Buying house for mom as he’d grow. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, really Akron. As big as his dream was spun. Finding major motivation they’ve achieved. No one saw coming except those who believed.

Harvey’s right about hitting the flow. As ‘hosted by’ king on many a show. Could do a ‘dog & pony’ TV series as a beat. Even with only animals in audience seat. For regular folks, replacing ‘hosted’ word. With your own strengths, ya heard. Like ‘created by,’ produced or led. Without letting stuff go to your head.

James knows as world’s greatest player. After bringing NBA title as Cleveland slayer. Childhood story of rough times. Now worth lot more nickels and dimes. Best seen as ‘greatness by’ hero. His paycheck’s got many a zero. Taken two teams on championship ride. And supporting his community with love and pride.

So Harvey’s making talk show ‘jump’ to LA. Hoping that move from Chicago will pay. James upping his teammates’ roles. Watching them gel is food for the souls. Where purest motivation they know comes from God. At home, work, marketplace or on iPod. Plus, they could buy back block hook, line and sod.

Tip: You don’t have to be an athlete to jump leaps & bounds as your dreams and gifting does the lifting.

Hughes is savoring her recent honor. They keep showing-up big and doing it best, no matter how small is the task or how hard the test.

In her story on the value of learning from others, she said “You can benefit from the mistakes and bumps in the road that the person who went first had to endure.” From experience, Hughes & Harvey model 3 keys for dreaming big: stepping into our imagination, thinking outside the box and turning-up our passion.

The secret’s in how they set it off to build a business, grow a brand and blaze a trail. Hughes took a dollar and dream to purchase her first radio station. Now she runs a company with 50+ outlets. Plus the cable TV venture is part of her production squad. There’s even a communications school with her name on it.

From dating advice, success tips and comedy clips, Harvey keeps extending his wings and reach. He knows growing a brand has a lot to do with spreading what you love doing, so much so that people send love back. He turned laughs from a corner of the streets into Kings of Comedy feats & Daytime TV treats.

Harvey shared an inspirational quote on social media that said “Sow your seed in the morning and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which one will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally.” It’s a recipe good for being on track and doing what it takes to run run run!

And endure to the bitter end. Hughes & Harvey model 3 keys. For dreaming big from A to Zs. Imagination, passion then saying cheese.

Secret’s in how they set it off. When others wanted to tease and scoff. Business, brand and blazing a trail. Bouncing back from a prior fail. Hughes took a dollar and a dream. Now she’s got radio & TV production team. Howard University Comm School has her name on it. A testament for how she didn’t quit.

Dating advice, success tips, comedy clips. Even dressing-up like the pips. He keeps reaching and stretching his wings. Growing his brand until fat lady sings. Spreading it thick in what he’s doing. Quote on social media sure to inspire. To sow seeds in the morning and go higher. Where hands not idle for too long. Keep it moving and stay strong. Never know whether this or that will do. Or if both equally will come thru. Being on track to run run run. Even moreso to have fun fun fun.

There it is…the return of the Macks! While some kids get set for new math, other folks can watch Michael Strahan & Steve Harvey. Over the summer there was a break from doing their shows. But Harvey kicked-off a new season with Simone Manuel on her Olympics race and Strahan joined GMA on the regular.

In ABC interview he said “I think we all get so tied up in what’s going on in work and all these other things that we forget that life is supposed to be fun. I try to bring that same attitude, as much fun and play you can bring to a job.” That’s what it means for them to connect with passion full-time and dreams full-speed.

It’s easy to lose count of how many gigs they got. Strahan does NFL Sunday on FOX. Then he’ll shuttle back to NY for his weekly GMA co-hosting duties. No wonder his book is entitled Wake Up Happy. You can’t run like this without loving what you do. These guys are sure to mix fun with getting back in the flow.

Harvey is no slouch either. When he’s not on syndicated radio, he’s cutting-up on his TV talk show. Then there’s Family Feud and Little Big Shots for extra measure. In between tapings he tries to share with his audiences a few nuggets from what’s on his mind. He too is raking in the dollars and sharing good sense.

They inspire us to keep it movin’. In a Huff Post Op-ed Harvey wrote “If you keep your faith… there is an appointed time for you and it’ll bust open for you. This journey we’re on isn’t about who gets there first, it’s about who hangs in there until the end.” As celebrity Hot Steppers they want to see folks living good!

After visit to the ocean or the lake. Harvey kicked-off new season on Olympics race. Strahan joined GMA as a regular in the place.

In ABC interview he once said. Not to let work and stuff drive us dead. Tied-up in the goings on at the job daily. Forgetting life’s supposed to be fun really. That same attitude taken from the playground. As seen on TV with fun all around. What it means to have full-time passion. And full-speed dreams in rotation.

Easy to lose count of the gigs they got. And the many ways they stay market hot. Strahan on FOX NFL Sunday show. Covering tackles and hits blow by blow. Then back to NY’s GMA set. Getting there fast on red-eye jet. Wake Up Happy his personal book thing. For how he brings fun and flow to the work ring.

Harvey’s got some get-up too. No slouch like animals tend to do. When not radio then it’s TV talk. There’s Family Feud and the Little Big Shots walk. In between he tries to share a nugget. To audience members’ goals on their bucket. Raking in the dollars, sharing good sense. For extra measure boosting confidence.

They inspire folks to keep it movin’. If nothing else just keep on groovin’. Reminding us to keep the faith and jump. At the appoint time to get over the hump. One way to describe Steve Harvey is “comedian at work.” His thing is to bring jokes to the joint. For Bethany Hamilton, a way to describe her is “surfer at work.” She kinda knows how to walk on water. Both Harvey and Hamilton make what they do at work, play and the everyday look like a walk in the park.

Harvey appears in People Magazine, while Hamilton told the Today Show “All of us have that passion for certain things. It may not be surfing. But whatever that passion is, just go for it.” They know there’s no mountain high enough, no ocean wide enough, to keep “awesomeness at work” from breaking through.

A few years ago Hamilton lost her left arm to a shark attack at age 13. She didn’t take long after recovering to face her fears by returning to the surf board. She recently placed third in a surfing competition, beating out other world-class athletes. It was her highest career finish ever at this event.

Looking back to the early years for Harvey includes a time being homeless and living out of his car. Now he’s seen as the “$100 Million-Dollar Man.” Harvey and Hamilton embody the ideal of putting passion to work and making progress in life’s journey. For Hamilton, it’s like going from party girl to soul surfer.

She might relate to Harvey’s story in People. During his setback he heard God’s voice telling him “If you keep going, I’m going to take you places you’ve never been. It was like God saying don’t quit, you’re almost there.” So even when awesomeness feels stuck, there’s room to make a buck or stretch your luck.

“Comedian at work” is Harvey at his best. Bringing jokes to the joint or TV fest. “Surfer at Work” is Hamilton’s story. Kinda walks on water to showcase her glory. Making what they do at work or play. Look like a walk in the park any given day. He’s all over the TV screen. She’s big on the surfing scene.

Harvey in People Magazine cover shoot. Talking ‘bout his pot-of-gold loot. Hamilton in Today Show feature. Talking ‘bout her game as a passion creature. Saying if surfing or whatever it is. Just go for it like folks in showbiz. No mountain high or ocean too wide. To keep awesomeness from breaking out in stride.

After losing left arm from shark attack. She didn’t see it as a life hack. Not long after in facing her fears. Returned to surf board past the tears. Placing third in surfing event. Still doing what she must to pay the rent. Beating out world-class athletes to reach semi-final. Highest career finish she writes in her journal.

Back in the day Harvey had no place. Homeless and trying to stay in the rat race. A few years living out of his car. Seemed like he didn’t have a chance to go far. Now rich enough to own lake or have cake by the ocean. With his career pride and divine promotion. For Hamilton, like party girl to soul surfer distinction.

She might relate to Harvey’s comeback. Telling People he heard God’s knock knock. A voice saying keep on keeping on. Taking you places you’ve never gone. Don’t quit, it’s like you’re almost there. Maybe that’s why he’s so full of flair. Even when awesomeness feels stuck. We can do a few things to stretch our luck.
