LOL Tube – Got Funny?
Theme:– “The Year of ‘Uppertunity’ – Get Lifted!”
With Higher Hopes, Bolder Dreams and Greater Teams (Old-School Flava)
This year is being billed as the “Summer of Women in Sports.” With the success of women’s soccer and breakout female coaches in the NBA and NFL, now we have the first female Army Rangers. As the U.S. Tennis Open is set to kick-off in NY, Serena Williams would welcome these women into an exclusive club.
Even before this tournament, Williams had already joined “Club10” of Least Expected, Well Respected where these female Rangers now belong. They’ve met the same high standards as men for rising higher and running things. As winners they know success comes with equal expectation but different sacrifice.
What 1st Lt. Shaye Haver and Capt. Kristen Griest have done is big time stuff! Training Commander Sgt. Maj. Colin Boley was quoted in the Business Insider saying “I didn’t think that they would physically be able to bear the weight, and I thought they would quit or get hurt, and they have proved me wrong.”
Meanwhile for Williams it’s a chance to make history. She’s going after the Grand Slam of winning five major championships in a row. That hasn’t been done since Steffi Graf in 1988. Williams told CNN “I’ve faced a lot of adversities. I’ve learned that I have a tough mind and if I win I’m going to take a vacation.”
As if Williams isn’t busy enough, she’s also taking a pre-med college course. She wants to find medical options for her sister Venus who’s suffering from a rare condition. So whether people advance through Military School or Big Time University, it’s about making waves by moving closer to the top of their game.

The year for “Summer of Women in Sports.” To be found in ESPN reports. Success seen in women’s soccer team win. Others on the rise so stick a pin. Female coaches in NBA and NFL ranks. First female Army Rangers working with tanks. Serena greets them in the club. As U.S. Open set to pack-in the pub.
Long ago Williams among least expected. Now becoming one of the well respected. Where the female Rangers now belong. Williams might breakout in Karaoke song. Same high standards met as men. Rising higher, running things, in “Club 10.” Equal expectation with a twist. From different sacrifice on the list.
What 1st Lt. Shaye Haver and Capt. Kristen Griest have done. Is big time stuff as before them there’s none. Their Training Commander kinda heard saying. Maybe these ladies need a lot of praying. Didn’t think they had the chops to make it. Proven wrong ‘cause they had the guts to shake it.
For Williams it’s a go at history in the making. To rack-up a Grand Slam in winning. It takes five matches in a row. Hasn’t been done since ‘88 in the Steffi Graf show. Williams tells CNN she’s had her ups and down. A tough mind on adversities won’t make her frown. If she wins, time for vacation and to skip town.
As if she’s not busy already. Chick finds other ways to be steady. Taking to college-level pre-med study. To find medical options for her buddy. Sister Venus suffering rare condition. So Williams uses that for motivation. As people advance through life’s best shot. Making waves, moving closer to hitting the spot.
Tip: Being best ‘among the boys’ is to be tough minded, not quit and thereby prove others wrong.
Talkback: How much do you agree with John McEnroe that Serena is the greatest tennis player ever?
