(Part 2) Act Like A S.T.A.R. And Go Far in 2010!

A star is born. From the Golden Globes to the Grammys. Red carpet to after parties. Mariah Carey is up for a nomination. Hopefully she’ll be sober on this occasion. What do the Grammys and Golden Globes have in common? A few fashion firsts. And a glimpse of the American spirit.

How’d they get there? Looking up for inspiration. Within for motivation. Creating a shift in consciousness. Working with a sense of purpose. Soon they dominate. In living the dream. Studying their field. Like there’s no tomorrow. Moving away from drama. And yesterday’s past sorrow.

Who’s hot? Who’s not? Seen in the winners. Best new artist. Or supporting actress. In Hip Hop, R&B or reality TV. Sharing their story. Of new found glory. Success was a winding road. But they made it.  Achieving their goal. Thanking family and friends. Supporting to the end.

What might go unsaid. Are the times of frustration. Sometimes crying in bed. No one came knocking. Or the money wasn’t in the hustling. Then a wake-up call or aha moment. When the only way forward was up. And the only time to act. Was now not never. Starting over fresh as ever.

Brings out the hero in you. Dreamers don’t quit. Even if they lose some. They go from wishing to winning. From stuck to star. Finding themselves. Saying yes. To less stress and more happiness. Seen as first-class. Becoming top-grade. Accepting that coveted award. On the world stage.

Hip Tip: Some people succeed out of nothingness but most dreams are conceived out of consciousness.

Blog Talkback: Do you find acceptance speeches inspiring or see them as moments of celebrity rants?

Act Like A S.T.A.R. And Go Far In 2010!

The Awards season is here. Things kick-off with the People’s Choice on-air. Where everyday folks get to vote. For their favorite stars in music, movies and online media. Then there’s BETs celebration of Gospel. No Kanyé West sightings planned. Is 2010 the year? To act like a star near and far.

Be inspired in spirit. And get with it. How you make money? Some are funny. Others make goods or sell fragrant honey. Spotlight on the person within. What’s your main thing? Run, write or bling bling. Build, bake or brew. Takes passion and personality. For more benjamins or a breakthrough.

Turn your smarts. Into something from the heart. Do what you love. Love what you do. Let your brilliant spirit cheer up the crew. People will adore and respect you. Don’t give-up because of your past. But give-back because of your future. Some choose philanthropy. Others raise community.

What’s your sign? Time to resign? Go from being sick and tired. To paid and desired. Gotta get to the mountain top. Keep on keepin’ on. Don’t stop, just get your goals on. When the body gets weak. Remind yourself of what you seek. That the foundation is laid. The bills get paid. Life is made.

Climb the career ladder. Step up as a biz leader. Represent as a community organizer. Have a talk with self. Be reminded you’re top shelf. Sugar might not be made sweeter. But life can go a little deeper. So happy new year once and again. Hope to see you soon. Between now and then.

Hip Tip: Who you are in spirit affects the money you make in digits.

Blog Talkback: If you could ‘wish upon a star’ in 2010, what would you like to do, own or experience that you’ve never had before?

Gift-Wrapping 2009, Un-Packing 2010! (Part 2 of 2)

Wanna dream in color? Like that new online reality show. Called “If I Can Dream.” Coming to a laptop near you. Follows five dreamers. Who want to be in showbiz. Act like a star. And go far. In career and business. Dr. King had a speech. Elvis wrote a song. Obama had audacity. Where’s your tenacity?

Serve a need. Avoid the trap of greed. Enough to go around. Even in the underground. Everyone has a dream. Others a way to scheme. Focus on the main thing. Whether you write or sing. Good with numbers. Or hanging with plumbers. Know your money-sides. Deliver with purpose and pride.

Get your shine on. Using the light within. Turn up your game. Network your name. Leverage your fame. Steve Harvey’s done it. So has Baisden. Both rising to the occasion. Learn from others. The things not taught in school. Success is in how you suit-up. More than just a hiccup.

The best of the best. Know how to outshine the rest. A lot to do with who you are. In spirit, talent, attitude and relationships. Do you! Let your brand come thru. Talk to Big G (od). He gives advice for free. Better yourself. One goal at a time. Get your groove on. Achieve in your prime.

Mary J. Blige paints a picture. On the Precious soundtrack. “I can see in color. The first sign of spring. The rose buds are blooming. I got a new song to sing. Life looks so amazing. Never knew I could open my eyes. And for the very first time, I can see (or dream) in color.” It’s all clear!

Hip Tip: The way to roll to reach your goal is to act like a star and go far.

Blog Talkback: If you could dream in color what would it take to write your own song or have the best life experience?

Gift-Wrapping 2009, Un-Packing 2010! (Part 1 of 2)

Black Friday orders are in! Cyber Monday shipments are out. Then there’s the US Mail rush. Where the most mail is sent. In a given day. Gotta gift wrap 2009. Before un-packing 2010. Some have goals. To lose weight and walk straight. Betta bring a New York State of Mind.

Make it there. Make it anywhere. Elevate your strengths. The way you roll. Manage weaknesses. At least be aware they exist. Got vulnerabilities? Minimize the distractions. Watchout for the detours and derailments. Enough material wants to entice. Drugs and alcohol to suffice.

It’s the way to go. To reach your goals. Like house-hunting. Know what you want. Close the gaps. In financing and romancing. Don’t overlook the flaws. Could come back to cost you. It’s about raising your living standard. See it before you hit it. Make smart decisions. Have faith in the future.

This is how you do it. Use specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-tested goals to make it. Shoot for the moon. Land among the stars. Set a target. Go to market. Define a vision. Refine with precision. Rome wasn’t built in a day. There’s a waiting period. For the ship to come in.

New York. New York. Where dreams are made of. Nothing you can’t do. Bright lights will inspire you. Ready to go? From heaviest to biggest loser. From sick and tired. To just got hired. From setback to comeback. Maybe zero to hero. Set sail in 2010. For deeper waters. And greener pastures.

Hip Tip: Goal planning is like house-hunting. Gotta know what you want for yourself and family.

Work, Play And Livin’ It Up This Holiday!

Nice up the dance! Spice up the food! All about having a good time this holiday season. You can go old-school. With some new-school. Mix in reggae music. Just keep it grown and sexy. And make sure the juice is plenty. So what’s a holiday party without a good vibe?

A Comedian once asked, “why did Jesus turn water into wine at the wedding?” ”Because He wanted to keep the party flowing.” Maybe that wasn’t the primary reason. But it makes you think. Might have wanted people to know. It’s OK to have some fun. A good time in between work and the daily grind.

Food flavored with herbs and spices. A plate of curry chicken or oxtails could do your body good. Of course, gotta dress your best. Makes you feel like a million dollars. Even if wearing the bargain basement brand. A dab of perfume or cologne. Good to enhance your personal effects.

The right music turns people on. Gets them on the dance floor. Break a sweat not a leg. That’s just a little too painful. Remember the purpose of the occasion. Just like there’s a reason for the season. Keeps you happy and hopeful. At the same time. Wanna get your party on or groove back?

The new year will bring welcome relief. Maybe even a fresh start. On a path to new options. As long as you’re learning, you’re growing. Not a member of the walking dead. So live a little. Love a little more. And split the difference between hate and needing to appreciate.

Buddy runs a Mom & Pop operation. While Mr. Jobs has built a multi-national corporation. The secret’s in the cake mix and the software fix. Both famous for being big on design. Where things are thought through. Before arriving at a store near you. Attention to detail and rich in appeal.

There Goes The Neighborhood With Another Scam CEO!

daddy-daughter09 There’s a new Colonel in town. Better known as KFC. More recently as KGC. For his un-fried grilled side. Planning to open a fast-food joint on the block or in the barrio? (Get to that idea in a minute.) Well, well, well! There goes the neighborhood. With more bogus Reality TV shows. And scammer CEOs?

Seen as a cousin to Big Brother. Pitting neighbors against one another. Then they wonder why this show had low ratings. Or why some businesses fail. Not enough time to talk about it here. Just know that they run out of money, ideas, and steam. What does it take to be your own boss?

The right mindset. No longer working for ‘The Man.’ But for yourself and a plan. The most dependable hands are next to your wrist. Gotta have the motivation. To carry on the vision. After the train has left the station. Applying a methodology. For moving goals along. Making things happen.

Then there’s the money factor. Maybe needed at startup or to get a leg-up. Sometimes you borrow. To build a brighter tomorrow. Other times you invest. In that rainy day fund. All this leads to ownership. Value appreciation and a tax shelter. Working with great people and on exciting projects.

True, man cannot live on fast-food alone. Or in the Reality TV zone. Think outside the box. Even when your job’s stuck in a box. Grow your business acumen and Benjamins. Boost your point value. Happens lot by lot in the neighborhood. As you buy a house. Build a business. And pursue a dream.

Hip Tip: A Homegrown biz can start in the garage or guest room, grow into a franchise agreement and supply you with year-round fulfillment.
