A New Way to Shine with Highlights, Insights and Media-bites that’s Exciting (Old-School Flava)
“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” This might be one of the most memorable lines from Muhammad Ali. Well, it seems even bees got the message as 15,000 of them showed up at a tree outside the Ali Center. They came to pay respect to “The Greatest” for working the four corners of the ring and life.
Ali brought skill, stature, salesmanship and then some. He cast a long shadow & big heart. His daughter described his last moments saying “All of his organs failed but his heart wouldn’t stop beating [on purpose].” He gave us at least 4 ways for having more “Ali magic” at work inside and outside of the 9 to 5.
People remember him as a fighter. History records him as three-time Heavyweight Champion of the world. There were memorable occasions where he brought strength, courage and wisdom. But it wasn’t only in the ring that he pulled no punches. Ali fought for his convictions like a modern day Kunta Kinte.
He was a crafty public figure for “telling it like it is.” He’d show up at the pre-fight weigh-in or post-fight press conference with a flashy prediction or explanation. His charisma was charming and disarming. He’d weave humanitarian issues and showtime aura in a way that was like a blend of “Roots” and Reality TV.
His family announced funeral plans to include eulogies by Bryant Gumbel, Bill Clinton and Billy Crystal. It’s likely someone will mention when he carried the torch and lit the Olympic flame. That moment humanized his Parkinson’s condition. It might have been the most inspirational image of his life’s journey.

A New Way to Shine With Highlights, Insights and Media-bites that’s Exciting (New-School Flava)
Float like a butterfly. If you give it a try. Sting like a bee. You best believe me. Most memorable lines from the champ. In boxing he put his stamp. Even bees seemed to have gotten word. 15,000 of them showed up like a herd. Paying respect as “The Greatest” is gone. Worked four corners of the ring, life and so on.
Brought skill, stature and salesmanship to bear. And then some with his pretty face dare. Cast long shadow and big heart. Things that helped set him apart. Organs failed in the last hour. But kept beating with purpose power. At least 4 ways for “Ali Magic” to rock. At work, play and around the block.
Remembered by many as a fighter. His stand on Vietnam seemed righter. Three-time Heavyweight champ of the world. With strength, courage and wisdom unfurled. His fights weren’t only in the ring. Pulled no punches beyond the sting. His convictions were like a Kunta Kinte thing.
Crafty public figure in sports and big stage. “Telling it like it is” at early age. Tuning pre-fight weigh-in into making prediction. And at post-fight presser with explanation. Charisma that was sweet and charming. With likeability just as disarming. Taking humanitarian issues to the end. As a ”Roots” & Realty TV blend.
Funeral plans expect celebrity sighting. With eulogies to bring enlightening. Gumbel, Clinton and Crystal to have their say. And bring it home in the Ali way. Likely to hear about the champ’s torch run. To light Olympic flame cauldron. Humanized by his Parkinson condition. A sharp image of life-journey inspiration.
Tip: To “float like a butterfly and sting like a bee” gives us an inspirational image for our life’s journey.
Talkback: Why was Ali seen as a champ not just in the boxing ring but also across the ‘hood and hills?
