Not many artists can say they’ve seen platinum three times in a row! That’s the case for Taylor Swift as her last three albums sold over one million copies. Her most recent album ‘1989’ was the highest selling album by any artist in years. Plus, her music career had something that the tabloids aren’t talking about.

Rolling Stones Magazine’s Rob Sheffield says Swift is a fantastic performer. Her songs come from the heart which is why her fan-club ‘Swifties’ so connect. Swift’s road to pop icon started out in country music. Her story gives a glimpse of career milestones that come from being real, ready and resolved.

At the recent ACM Awards, Swift’s mom gave props to her daughter’s rise up the charts and in the industry. The moment was full of emotion considering it was revealed that her mother’s battling cancer. In receiving the milestone award, both mom and daughter took time to cherish the journey.

It’s one where Swift had the chance to choose between trailblazing and farm-raising. She spent a part of her early years involved with tree farming. Along the way she developed her interest in music and performed on weekends. At age 14 her family moved to Nashville which was the start of bigger things.

Swift made news recently for pulling the plug on her relationship with the streaming service Spotify. She’s joining forces with Jay-Z’s Tidal Wave instead. Whether in business, sports or politics, tomorrow’s icons, moguls and mavericks get real, get ready and get resolve as a glimpse to their future career milestones.

Not many artists can say. They’ve earned music’s platinum pay. Taylor Swift did so and more. Millions of downloads from the iTunes store. Most recent with ‘1989’ album drop. And the hits just don’t stop. Highest selling album in years. Tabloids know something else but think who cares.

Rolling Stones Writer says Swift’s fantastic. As a songwriter she’s blog-tastic. Songs come straight from the heart. Is why fan-club ‘Swifties’ won’t part. Road to pop icon began in country. Now’s she’s selling albums in bounty. Her’s a glimpse in career milestone. Being real, ready and resolved down to the bone.

During recent ACM Awards shout-out. Swift’s mom gave props for her clout. Rising up the charts and into the record books. Industry leader in sales and image looks. Moment full of emotion as mom battles cancer. Swift in the audience the usual dancer. So mom gets to cherish success journey of her daughter.

Swift simply shows she’s a trailblazer. Choosing that over being a farm-raiser. Spent early days with growing trees. Now she lives large and smiles ‘cheese.’ Grew her music chops on the strings. From age 14 karaoke gigs to Nashville club flings. Now a bonafide celebrity doing big things.

Made news recently for pulling the plug. Spotify no longer gets a hug. Joining forces with Jay-Z’s Tidal Wave crew. That should give music lovers something to chew. Whether in biz, sports, politics or school. ‘Got next’ icons, moguls and mavericks know the rule. It’s real, ready, resolved so don’t be no fool.

There’s been lots of talk recently about the American Dream being dead or alive. Some politicians have built their platform on making the Dream a reality for more folks. Other people think it’s getting harder and harder to attain. Warren Buffett feels the American Dream takes being rated professional grade.

Buffett believes it means career and biz branding that is distinctive, competitive and positive. It’s about being a standout on the job or in the marketplace. This makes for a more competitive position that puts you in the mix like top movies on Netflix. It helps create a rise in job status like seen on the Stock Market.

He says achieving the American Dream is affected not only by those professional factors but also social and monetary issues. He explains that the American Dream has given some people the cold shoulder as more earnings went to the super-rich. Their ‘Forbes 400’ wealth has grown 25 times since the 1980s.

Buffett thinks the American Dream is still doable as people, products and politicians breathe life into the marketplace. On the social front, this is impacted by the market system, rule of law and equality of justice. On the monetary side he feels government can help by expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit.

His ‘guru’ comes through with knowledge of the financial markets and economy. He plans to pass-on some measure of the American Dream by donating 99% of his wealth to philanthropy. In the meantime, he hopes more people can raise their professional grade and get to sip umbrella drinks in the shade.

Lots of talk and American Dream jive. Many wonder if it’s dead or alive. On it some politicians stake their platform. With message about social reform. People think it’s harder and harder to attain. For them that’s making it plain. Warren Buffett feels it takes being professional grade. For those who don’t have it made.

Buffett believes in career/biz branding.  Distinctive, competitive and on a positive standing. Takes being a standout on the job clock. And letting things shine on the market block. A more competitive showing in the mix. Like top movies online or Netflix. Watch your job status rise. As seen in a Stock Market surprise.

Buffet says the Dream’s affected by professional factors for sure. With social and monetary issues politicians should do more. American Dream’s given some the cold shoulder. While the super-rich are among the older. Their wealth since 1980s grown 25 times over. Leaving some to fight for the leftover.

Thinks the American Dream’s still doable. As people, products and officials make it possible. By breathing life into the marketplace. And making things happen in the social space. Impacted by market system, equality of justice, rule of law. And government expanding Earned Income Tax Credit thaw.

His ‘guru’ comes through like a money-market whiz. His knowledge rich in economic biz. Plans to pass-on Dream to many through philanthropy. By donation 99% with his peers who’re wealthy. Meantime he hopes more people can boost professional grade. And get to sip umbrella drinks in the shade.

The jury’s out on Jamie Foxx hosting the iHeart Music Awards. He’s taken some heat for his monologue jokes. The show saw Rihanna channeling Lil Kim. There were others who made headlines. But Ryan Seacrest has made a name for himself not just in showbiz but by putting heart into his work ethic.

Why wouldn’t people put this into their work or businesses into their brands? Southwest Airlines knows the importance of heart. They’ve added it to their logo and commercial appeal as the ‘dot’ in dotcom. Even iHeartRadio seems to have caught-on that the parent company changed names to iHeart Media.

Business leaders know it takes heart to captivate and soul to motivate. Maybe Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake can relate. She received a few honors while he was named Music Innovator. Their body of work speaks for itself. Some might say she streams heart into her songs while he pours soul into his.

In words you’ve heard before, they know ‘all about that base makes top dollar.’ They connect their fan-base with music, fun and lots more. Who knew that Swift had such admiration for Timberlake? She could possibly be the next recipient of the Innovator Award (Well, Kanye West might have something to say).

As one of the few from the original crew, Seacrest keeps things ‘light and loose’ on American Idol. Swift keeps turning out #1 albums and Timberlake keeps delivering his music as ‘white soul.’ They all bring heart to the stage the way an athlete combines passion and grace within their greatness.

Jury’s out on iHeart Awards host Jamie Foxx. Many not sure he knocked it out the box. Taken some heat for his monologue jokes. Didn’t go over well with some folks. Rihanna showed-up like Lil Kim of old. Others made headlines not as bold. Seacrest in the building with his heart. Work ethic sets him far apart.

Why wouldn’t people put heart in their brands? Opens the door to more buying hands. Southwest Airlines adds heart to its sleeves. As seen on its logo and pamphlet leaves. Commercial appeal to hit the spot. As seen in its URL dot. Even iHeartRadio on the same page. Changing its name on the main stage.

Biz leaders know heart helps to captivate. Then add some soul to motivate. Maybe Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake can relate. As they cash-in the money plate. She gets a few honors as songwriter. He gets the press as Music Innovator. She streams heart from track to track. He pours soul like Aloe Blacc.

In words you’ve heard before. ‘All about that base makes top dollar’ the score. So they connect with their fan-base for sure. With music, fun and a whole lot more. Who knew Swift had such admiration. For Timberlake’s personification? Could be next Innovator star. Kanye West not ready to say she’s on par.

One of the few Idol originals. Keeps things light, loose, with the lyricals. Swift keeps turning out #1 songs. Timberlake fans think he does no wrongs. Music that’s kinda like ‘white soul.’ And comedy skits from his SNL role. Bringing lots of heart to the mix. An athlete’s passion and grace on the greatness fix.

Chris Brown Makes a Turnaround with New Tracks and Then Backtracks

doc_lg

Theme:–The Year of ‘Growmance’
Where Love Beats Fear in Upping Our Game This Year” (Old-School Flava)

This past weekend was big for homecomings. There were cheer booster rallies, pre-game tailgating and folks hanging-out with friends. It seems Chris Brown was in the mix. He headlined a homecoming party at a Washington D.C. club. Every so often Brown makes a turnaround with new tracks and then backtracks.

Over the past few years Brown has become more known for mixing things up. He was put on probation after the Rihanna incident. Since then he’s had run-ins with Drake and Frank Ocean to name a few. Now it seems he could have a violation with a recent skirmish after the party. So what can Brown do for you?

That’s the slogan for UPS. But it might even be a question for Brown vs. Brown when he looks in the mirror. It’s a question others may have asked after a surprise layoff, business setback or fall from grace. Change from the outside-in might be more appealing but change from the inside-out is more revealing.

There’re times when returning from setback or avoiding the urge to backtrack requires looking towards the horizon. The horizon is where the sun rises and sets. It also gives warning of where clouds (changes) are gathering. Whether work dreams or vacation, the horizon is a place for great visions and revisions.

Brown still has a loyal fan base. His music is overly-racy to some but cool and sexy to others. Since the probation judge is less interested in his music, Brown can only hope and pray he doesn’t get jail time. But if so, he’ll have more time to look to the hills in order to change the man in the mirror after rehab.

The Year of ‘Growmance’
Where Love Beats Fear in Upping Our Game This Year” (New-School Flava)

Past weekend among the bigs. Lots of weaves and curly wigs. Homecoming booster-cheer rallies. Pre-tailgating and after-parties. Folks hanging with some friends. Dropping dollars to no ends. Chris Brown in the mix. Getting D.C. party fix. He makes turnaround with new tracks. Then suddenly kinda backtracks.

Past few years of bad press. Anger management or under stress. Put on probation after Rihanna blow-up. Becoming known for mixing things up. Run-ins with Frank Ocean as well as Drake. Just to name a few for real sake. Recent skirmish could bring violation. What can Brown do for Brown in this situation?

Like the slogan to that of UPS. Brown has had long-running success. But Brown vs. Brown is a different beast. Needs to look in the mirror at least. A question for others after layoff or life setback. Fall from grace to major comeback. Change on the outside more appealing. Change on the inside more revealing.

Good for returning from setback. And avoiding urge to backtrack. Requires taking a horizon view. Where sunlight dies or comes thru. Gives early warning of clouds gathering. Seeing things before they become troubling. Whether work dreams or on vacation. A great place for vision-revision motivation.

Still has a loyal fan-base. Maybe he’s opened-up another case. Music overly-racy say some complainers. But cool and sexy say industry retainers. Probation judge doesn’t really care. About his album and style flare. Brown hopes and prays no jail-time range. Might take looking to the hills if he wants to change.

Tip: Upping your game is in knowing that change from the outside-in might be more appealing but change from the inside-out is more revealing.
